Merrily We Rib Along

A bunch of us over at the elann chat site are doing a KAL of the Chic Knits Ribby Cardi.

I'm knitting mine with Louisa Harding Kashmir Aran in Jalapeno for the body and Avocado for the sleeves. Kashmir Aran is a luscious blend of merino, microfiber and cashmir. It is sooo nice in the hands and knits up beautifully into an elastic, slightly textured fabric with wonderful drape.

This is the back of my Ribby. The colour is more accurate in the above photo than in this one. I tried taking the picture on three different surfaces, and the colour kept coming out wrong. Must be the light.

Vital Statistics:

Pattern: I'm knitting the plain panelled Ribby with rolled collar and zipper
Size: the smallest size (34/35" bust)
Needles: size seven (4.5mm) and 8 (5mm) bamboo straight needles
Gauge: 19 stitches and 26 rows = 4" with bigger needles

I knit 3 1/2" of bottom rib and then a total of 13" of body before casting off under the arms. I worked the raglan decreases according the the pattern instructions. Total back length is 21." I used 3 1/3 balls of Kashmir Aran to knit the back.

I'm working on a sleeve now.

Welcome to all who would like to Ribby along with us! Please leave a comment to tell me what you are doing with your Ribby.

What Jean said!

Here I was, feeling smug about how much I had done. Hah! I was zooming along last night at our Friday SnB group and oops! I had 6in of bottom ribbing. Two inches into the Frog Pond, but I'm now at about 8in overall on the back. I hope I'm not going to be sorry that I'm doing this in pieces.

I going to dig out my ribbi, I am half done with the back, started in HW, the colours pictured in the pattern, because I already had the celedon and thought I would save money by only needing to buy the nutmeg... then you started in about the Louisa Harding Kashmir Aran, and now I have enough coming so I can do a solid colour one too! Sigh, you evil yarn enabler,you... of course, if I didn't read your blog everyday, I would be richer in money, but it wouldn't be nearly as much fun!

Tracy, that would be my evil twin "The Evil Yarn Enabler" -- keeps me enslaved to my needles. LOL. I love that Celadon/Nutmeg combo too. Lucky you!! Let me know how it's going.

Well, in my own defense, Jean and CBM, I did say I was thinking about making TWO of these.
